Newsletter: October 2018

Greetings.  Spring is in the air and the end of the year is fast approaching.

Save the Date
The final patient seminar and end of year function will be Wednesday, 12 December 2018.   Details to follow soon.

Website
We are continually adding fresh content and hope that people are finding the articles of interest.  There is a lot going on in the research and treatment areas.

Facebook
The private Facebook page now has 171 members but the discussion has not been active of late.  People appreciate others sharing their concerns and any aspects of the patient journey.

Fundraising
We were fortunate to have a generous donation from the Florence Peterson Trust.

The Burden of Disease report
This is nearly completed and we hope to be able to share the information gathered with you soon.

Queenstown Summit Meeting – 25 – 26 August 2018
The meeting was a great success and there were 56 delegates.  Prof. Donna Reece from Toronto was able to share with us the Canadian approach and this was similar to New Zealand with better access to the novel drugs.    The range of speakers was excellent and the proceedings will be available soon on the website.

Meds NZ Discussion Page
This is the community page of priorities.NZ, a Facebook page where people can discuss and debate issues surrounding medicines in New Zealand, tell their personal stories and share opinions or ideas check it out – https://www.facebook.com/prioritiesnz/about/

A South Island Seminar
I have been trying to get this arranged for this year but the timing has not been easy.  We hope to have a seminar in Christchurch in February next year.
